The cerebellum is crucial for planning, executing, terminating, and learning movements. The cerebellum compares actual motor performance with intended motor performance; thus, it is important in the adaptation of movement and posture as well. In addition, the cerebellum contributes to cognition and behavior. The main functions of the cerebellum appear to be the timing of motor functions and other functions. This chapter reviews the anatomy and circuitry of the cerebellum.
