Initial AP radiograph (left) demonstrates low lung volumes and diffuse granular opacities with branching, tapering air bronchograms (arrow), consistent with surfactant deficiency. Additionally, there are tubular and cystic lucencies (arrowheads) near the hila, which are not branching and tapering, indicating early PIE....
