This is a personal account of an episode of depression at the age of 71. The author discusses the symptoms of low mood, loss of confidence and sleep disturbance. She discusses how the condition affected her life, and how she struggled to cope with everyday activities. Antidepressant treatment was of some benefit for a limited period but side effects were troublesome. The situation improved slowly and altogether the episode lasted around two years.
