This chapter reviews the existing literature on co-occurrence of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in clinical and epidemiological samples. It discusses genetic and other biological mechanisms that may contribute to the co-occurrence of these symptoms, the treatment of ADHD symptoms in ASD, and provides some general comments on diagnostic nosology and areas in need of further research.
