If you are a subscriber or a free trialler, your personal information will be used to enable us to verify you are a subscriber or free trialler (as the case may be) and to deliver any restricted content on the Website to you.
If you sign up to receive newsletters , we will ask you for your email address and your name. We may send, to the email address that you have given, other information about us and our products which we think may be of interest to you. We may use ‘single-pixel gifs’, customised links or similar technologies to determine whether you have opened the email which we sent and which links you clicked on within the email in order to provide you with more focused e-mail communication or other information.
We may also use information in our customer databases to send you information about us and our products which we think may be of interest to you, both electronically and otherwise. We request personal information (such as your name, e-mail address and other contact details) from you when you contact us with subscription management queries, technical problems, or when you ask for information about how to use the Website. Security
Your personal information is stored at a data centre managed by our third party hosting company and on the customer databases at OUP and OUP Inc. The data centre managed by our third party hosting company is specifically designed to be physically secure and to admit authorized personnel only, who are contractually bound to keep all of our data confidential.
Access to our customer databases within the OUP Group is only given to those of our employees who need such access in order to carry out necessary processing of your account.
All personal information submitted by you and entered onto the Website’s access control system is encoded using SSL encryption before being sent over the Internet.
Owing to the global nature of the Internet infrastructure, the information you provide may be transferred in transit to countries outside the European Economic Area that do not have similar protections in place regarding your data and its use as set out in this privacy policy.
